Hello, Rave Review Book Club members!

This blog comes to you from Midland, Texas!

Each person who leaves a comment will enter a contest to receive a signed copy of THE UNSURRENDERED. (2 winners)
You’ll also be eligible to win a grand prize from RRBC.

There are sites where you can buy all of my books (described down on the right) and some videos of each are displayed down the page on the left.

I’d like to take this chance to thank all of the supportive RRBC members I’ve met since I joined. You’ve been great!

I’ve been busy writing and have three finished manuscripts on my desk. I’m looking for an agent(s) but still thinking about self-publishing.

My favorite one is SCARED SILENT about a woman who murders her abusive husband. She runs but is chased by her ex-father-in-law, Sheriff Raines, who is trying to murder her. She finally surrenders and a trial is held in the small Texas town where her husband’s family rule. What does fate have in store for her?
I also have a Young Adult Historical Fiction, GLORY LOST, about a sixteen year-old girl whose parents are killed by Confederate Bushwackers. She dresses like a man and runs to join the Union Army. As she fights in Sherman’s Army, she’s faced with devastation on both sides, finds love, and decides to lay down her gun. Will Jonathan go home to her farm with her? Only time will tell.
THE BULLY’S LAST CHANCE tells the story of a thirteen-year-boy who moves to a new town with his mother when his father is deployed to Afghanistan. Freddie’s a skinny, smart, and funny kid who immediately falls in love with Emma. He’s bullied by Will who threatens Freddie because he assumes he’s weaker. Taught by his father how to fight at a young age but told that violence should only be used as a last resort, Freddie doesn’t use his skills to teach Will a lesson until he’s forced. What will happen? Stay tuned to find out!

  1. HIJoyce! Nice to see you in MIdland, TX. All I remember about Midland was that little girl who fell in an abandoned well and made national headlines. I never forgot that.

Your post is nice on the eyes and I am interested in your works from what I'm reading. I hope your tour is successful and good luck to you.

    1. Thank you, Shirley!

Midland-Odessa area isn't very exciting, but we are listed as the top area for authors in Texas. Couldn't believe it, but I love the writing groups (3) that I'm in! Thank you for stopping by!

  3. Lovely blog. I like that you have done a book regarding bullies. This is so prevalent in our society and many kids choose suicide. Bravo to you for helping our children!

  5. Scared Silent brought back memories of the movie The Burning Bed. I think that was the name of it. The Bully's Last Chance sounds great as well. What ages would you say are appropriate for that book?

    1. Middle-grade. It's appropriate for 10 to 13-year-old. I hope to get it published very soon. Thank you!

  11. Hi Joyce, love and war go together like . . . Anyway, watched all three videos. Enjoyed them a lot. I see you published with Xlibris. I fired them a few months back because they were not reporting my sales and paying my royalties. Caught them red-handed. Hope you're getting everything you're owed, but I seriously doubt it. Had to mention that. I ran into a few people last year at events who had the same problem. A Healing Place sounds like a real tear jerker. The more emotion the higher the rating from me usually. Have a great day. Cheers and Party on!

    1. Thank you, Larry. I am never going back to them. I've had the same problem. I hate confrontations, but it looks like I'll have to do the same thing. Why on earth would a big company risk things and do that? Thank you for stopping by!

    3. I know. I think it's the hardest part. Although I had never written an entire murder trial before. That was incredibly difficult, but I guess it's ready. Now for the publishing...

  14. Hi Joyce, I love the title and covers of your books--and of course the topics. I'm thinking of self-publishing this time too but Amazon is the biggest thief of all.And there's my lack of techno skills . . . . Enjoy your tour today and I hope to get to your books.

  19. Hi Joyce, I see you work with a Round Robin group to write as well as on your own. How do find the RR approach works? I did it once, years ago, and the thing came to a sudden stop after about five authors had done their bit!

    1. I loved it. You need someone who will take charge. The woman who was the publisher was one of the writers and she made sure each writer got his part in a timely manner. We each wrote 6 chapters in the same order as the first time around. I had a lot of fun. It's great if you have a good group.

  28. Hi, Joyce. Very interesting blog post. Your stories sound fascinating. I would love to see you publish them. But if you're waiting on an agent, it may be a while. It is my belief the traditional publishing industry is going the way of the old-school music industry (and I believe we're seeing that, based on much of what I've read). You can reach the entire world through self-publishing--though you won't have the big marketing machine. That's where the author must really be dedicated. Either way, I wish you only the best!

    1. Thank you! I'm going to try pitching to agents this weekend and at our conference in September. Then I'm going to self-publish. All of my books will still be relevant. In this community I know that authors with agents are treated with more respect. We were told by the librarian last year and last month that we were not "real authors." Ridiculous. I have a small press in mind for the murder book at least.
